Jami Mosque was constructed in the 1st century AH. on the site of the ruins of an ancient fire-temple. Evidences can be noted here from the Mongol and Timurid periods. It has tall brick made porch on the western side of the courtyard. There is an inscription on the upper portion of the porch, under which are a few huge tablets of stone. Two of which are decrees of the Safavid monarch to the public.

The area for nocturnal prayers in the southern section has sixteen round pillars in the center and eight and a half columns towards the eastern wall which form the pillars of the ceiling in this vicinity.

On the top of this minaret is an inscription affixed on the intricate brick work, showing the date of construction. The crown of the minaret is octagonal, with arches in brick works, in addition to the blue tiles.

This bazaar was constructed in the early Qajar period, and comprises of two sections, named as the northern and western sectors. The northern segment is vast with numerous rows and alleys. Besides which there are five mosques, three public bathes, four local inns or caravansaries (in a ruined state) and a large area in which religious ceremonies are performed. This vicinity comprises of a large hall and 25 shops.

The huge water reservoir of Semnan and a small mosque are also located here. In the years 1969-1971, two beautiful gateways were adjoined to the northern and southern rows of this bazaar.

Semnan is a historical and cultural city which is placed on the main and busy roads in the past and that’s why so many caravansaries were made on this road for passengers to take rest after travelling for a long time. You could see a huge number of caravanserais form Safavid dynasty. Ahowan Stony Caravanserai is located 42 kilometers east of Semnan in Ahowan Village. This caravanserai, made from stone and a special material called Sarooj, has got four rectangular porches with 24 rooms around it.
